The Center appliqué is attached by machine. However, it was cut by hand and pinned into place. No adhesive on this baby.
The yellow is constructed of 2 inch strips pieced together. Then the Fleur-de-lis shape was hand cut. The black was then pinned and sewn into place on top of the yellow patchwork.
All the fabrics are Indonesian Batiks. I chose a combination of three golden yellows and four blacks.
The back is all black batiks pieced together. I chose to accent the fleur-de-lis with a gold thread on the back for interest.
The quilting accents the Fleur-de-lis and then the rest is straight stitched 1/8 inch and then 5/8 inch from the seams.
The Quilt finished at 63 inches by 78 inches. It is perfect for snuggling on the couch to watch those football games.
It is already off to its permanent home. Maybe a wee bit overdue, but better late than never.
