The long road to Indonesia

Posted on

Hi there.

I’m writing this from my new living room in Indonesia. Its been a long road to get here. We received our letter that we were moving here for my husband’s job in April. Six long months later we have finally arrived. I am so glad to be here! We packed out our house in California, said “see you later” to friends and family and got on the bus for the airport with all 19 of our bags and carryons.

Our ride to the Airport. When you have 19 bags, you get the big bus.

It was a pretty nice bus. And of course the kids were super excited to be the solo passengers on this massive bus.

The kids did incredibly well on the flights. We weren’t sure what the trip would bring, but they were troopers.

After two LONG flights and one hour-long layover, we arrived in Singpore to complete some paperwork and acclimate. Trying to keep the kids awake, we headed out to Sentosa and the Aquarium.

After a slight meltdown moment, we all needed a serious nap.

The next day we travelled to Indonesia and then on to our new home for the next few years.

So happy to finally be here. Loving this place so much so far.

Indonesia is incredibly beautiful. Lush jungles. Interesting creatures (some of which I’m really hoping I don’t get to meet…I’m looking at you snakes, scorpions and dragons).

And of course, I’m excited about the food!

I’ll still be blogging about all sorts of quilty goodness. I’ve been so busy with the move, I haven’t had time to post all my quilting adventures of the last few months. I’ll catch you up on those soon. And of course I’ll sprinkle in some of our Indonesian adventures.

Cheers,

Liz
